I stayed in a small village called Rutino in Cilento, nestled in what locals call the Valley of Lights. On certain mornings, I'd hear a van pulling up at the edge of town. It wasn’t just any van—it was the bread van.

The moment it arrived, women poured out of their houses, aprons wrapped around colorful dresses, voices rising in greeting. They weren’t just buying bread—they were catching up, laughing, sharing bits of their day. I stood there with them, feeling like I’d stepped into something timeless.


🌞 Bread as Tradition, Not Just Food

Back home in America, bread is something you grab off a shelf, wrapped in plastic, quick and anonymous. But here, bread felt alive. It came warm, handed over like a gift, and received like a blessing.
